Trainee lawyer,founder of Knit2Lead and Business Developer The 50/50 project
“It’s better to be a pirate than join the navy?. A lawyer in the making;a social entrepreneur by choice.Attending as a delegate the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Committee on women’s rights,I ended up discovering her life’s drive and vocation:how to contribute to the empowerment of more women in my country. first contribution towards this goal was a paper published by Cambridge University press examining how women can stimulate creation in a Europe in crisis.The second contribution was the launch of Knit2Lead,a social enterprise aiming at empowering women from underprivileged backgrounds through fashion with an impact of 150 women of all ages(Melissa Orphanage,Holy Church of Greece).Her third contribution towards millennial women’s empowerment in the corporate world is the 50/50 project.Sofia?s areas of expertise cover commercial and private law,international trade and human rights in the contexts of business.She has received scholarships from DAAD,Harvard University,the European Parliament and the International Organization of La Francophonie.
My talk will consist of 3 parts: -part 1 a)some brief statistics on women’s participation in technology and business b)why women are better leaders than men -part 2:why we need to change the narrative on women’s empowerment and put men in the game -part 3:the story of my new start up venture,the 50/50 project,a project aiming at empowering women in tech using men as allies
